DIARY JUNE 9, 1965 Jyotipriya

John Estridge, his wife René and his brother Willy attended Dr. Irelands demonstration the night Kudabox came.  John made a very significant comment when he stated that what impressed hi most was the fantastic ego of these men.    John has been a member of the Gurdjieff group for some years and always comes to talk and spend a few minutes.  We met John at our health food store in 1962.

Jyotipriya arrived yesterday and we are very happy to have her with us.  I picked her up shortly after 8:00 a.m. at Newark airport and we drove back to our apartment at 35-45 81st Street.  Here she met Anne and spent the day with her.  I went to work and later in the evening Eric Hughes, Jyotipriya and Anne came to have dinner at the Tin Angel. (This is definitely 1967.) We discussed so many things.  Jyotipriya told us about progress at her ashram, life in Los Angeles with beatniks, Watts riots, the persecution of health food practitioners, store owners, etc. by the A.M.A. and all about her trial in preparing for this journey to India.  Her last visit to India was in 1947.  Anne feels that we should move away from New York City soon and I am inclined in the same way.  Jyotipriya told Anne that she would like us not to return to NYC after our trip to India and that she would like us to help at her center.  Ill drive her to Kennedy airport today at 6:00 p.m..  She is such a courageous and devoted disciple.  Crippled with severe arthritis and broken bones in her feet, she never complains and will face any circumstance to return to the feet of Divine Mother.

We received another letter from Rutledge and will probably visit him by the end of the month.
